A solar based irrigation system and its feasibility in growth enhancement of plants is analyzed by the eighth semester students, Mr. Amal K Joseph, Mr. Jeffin Jacob Paul and Mr. Joel Shajan Varghese under the guidance ship of Prof. Rinu susan Roy and Prof. Lordson Devasia. An artificial lighting system (red and blue lights) using LED strips is provided for the plants during night and this is will increase the photosynthesis of the plants during the night time. It has also been proved that the rate of growth of plants becomes faster by giving electricity to the stems of the plants.
Mr. Amal Suresh, Mr. Geo Jose, Mr. Visakh M S, Mr. Vipin Benny of S8 EEE developed an electric bike incorporated with a gear system to get a speed range of 0-80 km/hr under the guidance ship of Dr. Anoop K J. As there is synchronization between the electric engine and ICE driving forces, less petroleum is utilized with less charging cycle of batteries (long life per charge). If one vehicle can spare about a normal of 30% of oil fuel, at that point an normal of about 40%-60% of national fuel can be saved by utilizing this sort of vehicle.
